Surreal

Sh.awn got a drum set for his birthday. He loves that thing and will bang on it for long periods of time. I watch him in awe...because now he uses both of his arms to hit the drum pads rather than just one. Oh how I love to watch him play.

His little face gets so serious. His tongue escapes his mouth to show how deeply involved he is in what he's doing. That tongue helps him concentrate--just as his mommy's tongue did the same when she was little.

Sometimes it is mind blowing to see just how much these little people are like me. As far as I can tell, I don't do that anymore. My tongue now remains securely in my mouth.

And yet, his body somehow knows...

It's surreal.

He's a piece of me--a link to the past and yet at the same time filled with such promise for the future.

  2. Congratulations on their 3rd Birthday. THREE!! Where did time go?

It's really really amazing how far they've gotten: from the tiny little fighters they were to the two wonderful strong toddlers they are right now...

Have a wonderful day, and of course many many many more wonderful years in which you get to watch them grow and play and learn.
