We're Having A...

The results of the poll are pretty divided. As of this post, there were 66 votes: Boy (30) 45%, and Girl (36) 55%

So here it goes. We're having a...

Boy!

I wrote this in an email earlier today.

We found out we're having a boy. I have to admit that I am a bit...torn. It seems wrong to say I am disappointed, but I guess that is a close description of how I feel at the moment. Just saying that makes me feel horrible. What an unfair thing to put on this little baby! How dare I be disappointed that he is not a girl. I'm getting over the feeling slowly. Telling people is helping.I am beyond happy that the baby is healthy. After all, that is by far the most important thing.

Such complicated emotions are tied to this little reveal. Once again, life threw me a curve ball.

I am making my peace with the idea that I will probably never have a little girl. It's hard though...

Sigh.

  2. Never have a girl......WHATEVER, this just means that after this wonderful perfect complication free pregnancy that goes to 40wks, you will need to do it again :-)
    THAT'S ALL!!

Plus boys ROCK!! Esp. when they are spaced out and singleton's :) You need to experience the calm peace of one boy before you are given your girl!

Just look he's going to have 2 of the tuff-esd, strong willed, can accomplish anything big brothers to protect him for life!!!!!

  3. Congratulations!! I know how you feel, but every mom of boys I know gushes about being a mom to boys. Initially I felt that way but as it gets closer to his birth-day, I get more and more excited that I'm having a son! :)

  6. It HAS to be the lack of sleep I've been getting. There is no other explanation to my wrongness.

I'm sorry. I too know that disappointment.
but really...how exciting. A little brother to play with and to share clothes and toys with.

    Ok. What's the name ?

  7. I read your post on your other blog and then forgot to vote. I knew it was a boy. I could read between the lines.
Don't feel guilty for your disappointment, it's natural. We all envision how we want our family to look, but you know better than a lot of people how that "perfect family" can take a "wrong turn" and still turn out pretty perfect, right?!
Congrats on the health and size of the little guy, what a star!

  8. Congratulations on the anatomy scan that revealed a healthy baby. Boy or girl should not factor into it.

  9. Wish I had something I could say to help the adjustment be easier. The best thing I can do is remind you that this boy is going to be the apple of your eye the moment he arrives.

    Hugs.

  10. I totally understand how you're feeling! When I found out that Ben and Daniel were boys, I was disappointed. I would have loved to have had 2 girls...or even a boy and a girl...I just didn't think 2 boys were for me. And yes, I was really disappointed.

So I get it. And since you already have 2 boys, you already know how great having boys is. But I get that you were hoping for that girl...I get it.

And I know that you also know that it is WAY more important that this baby be healthy and be born full-term. You get that too.

    Sorry you're disappointed...but here's to a full-term, healthy, baby boy!!! Congratulations!!!

  11. I hear you on that. Don't feel bad about being disappointed. It's human nature. And it doesn't mean that you won't love this boy with all of your heart.

I'm so happy to hear that all is going well with the pregnancy.

    Now rest!!!

  14. I've been in your shoes before. I had three girls before I had my youngest. I wanted a boy so badly and was extremely disappointed when I found out I was having a girl. But then I realized that I was a pro when it came to raising little girls. And that she'd fit into our family like she was always meant to be there. You were meant to have three boys and your boys were meant to have a little brother. (And think of all the money you'll save from using hand-me-downs!) Congratulations to you and your family! So excited for you!

  15. I totally understand... I was hoping, at the time, for a boy and a girl, but now I couldn't be happier for the two boys I have... that said, it's OK to feel "disappointed" and blessed at the same time! I'm so glad to hear that the anatomy scan looks good!!! WHOOT!

  16. First, congratulations on your healthy baby... boy!

Second, it's normal to feel a little sadness about what might have been.

Third, that's one of the stupid things that infertility/loss/high-risk pregnancy robs you of... the luxury of getting to treat the sadness mentioned above like it's totally normal. You put pressure on yourself (and the community puts pressure on you sometimes) to be so grateful for your pregnancy that you don't "get" to feel your feelings about gender. They're not right OR wrong... they just ARE.

I'm rooting for you and I'm so glad that all is well with your little guy. And you.
