Bomb threat. (which makes me wonder why they made us stay in the building if the threat was that it was going to be blown up, but what do I know)
Then the threat was changed to a level 2, so the kids could talk but no on could leave the room. Fast forward through another hour and a half, add in one kid peeing in the sink (no bathroom opportunities during a lo.ckdown, and OMG I don't want to have to experience THAT again because....ewwwww), a room search, watching one of my students get patted down by the police, and we finally were released for lunch.
More news time. The camera crews were there before any of us knew what was going on.
It is ridiculous.
I think it scared off my poor student teacher. It is sad when the kids ask if this was her first lo.ckdown, and they say that she'll get used to them. It's very sad.
Two lo.ckdowns in as many days. I.am.wiped.
I hate lockdowns. Fortunately, we've never had one last more than 15 minutes. I can't even imagine having a kid pee in the sink! That's horrible!

Wow. That's crazy. I don't think we have as many lockdowns on the schools up here as you guys do, because I don't remember ever having one in my entire school career. Nor do any of my friends. That sounds extremely stressful. How do you cope?? *hugs*

Just so you all know, I feel safe at school (except on the days we get bomb threats). I enjoy the staff and most of the student population. I have only had a handful of students EVER, who have made me nervous. For the most part, even the behavior issues are likeable on a one-on-one basis. Plus, I went to this school!
ReplyDeleteThat being said, the area police officer assigned to our school has called us a "hot spot", meaning that we have increased activity. I am not really sure how I feel about that label. It makes me sad, really.
Can I ask where you teach? I can't believe you've had two lock downs in such a short amount of time. I think the entire time I was a student I've only been in lock down three times.

ReplyDeleteThose are the scariest! I use to teach and we had two lock downs due to some inmates that escaped and ran towards our school. The code for all clear was "Thep rincipal has found her notebook" the kids were so cute because they got so MAD they had to be silent and scared for two hours beacuse the principal lost her notebook, lol.
