Friday Night Leftovers

I'm trying something new this week--I am participating in Danifred's Friday Night Leftovers. (Thanks to Carrie for the idea!) The premise is to "write out all the random thoughts swimming in your head that don't quite constitute a blog entry of their own." Now that is something I can do. Plus, I get to use bullets! :-)
  • I had the strangest thing happen to me last night. I often like to click on people's sidebar blog lists. Last night I had clicked through a chain of six or seven blogs before I stopped dead in my tracks. I hit on a blog from someone in my hometown! We're talking a blog of someone who lives less than 2 miles from me. The post was about how they were moving to a new city--mine--and talked about the house they were buying. The whole thing freaked me out, and I had to click away. It was like some strange version of the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game. While I realize that I am only pseudo anonymous on this thing, I really don't want a whole lot of IRL people finding this space and reading my thoughts.
  • Hey, speaking of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, I am only THREE degrees from Kevin. :-) I was an extra in a movie with Michael Easton -- who was in Coldfire (1990) -- with J Cynthia Brooks -- who was in She's Having a Baby -- with KEVIN BACON! How cool is that? I am like almost famous. You can play around with this game by going here.
  • The boys have PT on Fridays, usually from 2:30-4:30. Today, she came early, so I had the afternoon off. Whoot! I went to happy hour with some girls from work and had a great time just talking and laughing. Ahhhhh...it was so good for the soul.
  • Our district's server was infected with a computer virus on Wednesday afternoon. That meant that all computers had to be off the network while they were working on it, so I was without a computer for two and a half days at work. I almost lost my mind. I was so excited when the finally let us back on today.
  • Is.aac is driving me up the wall. I think he is PMSing. It is funny how his PMS symptoms seem to coincide with the last week of my cycle. He goes back to normal about a day after I start AF. Strange, huh?
  • I am on CD 27. I should start tomorrow. There is no sign of the usual spotting that normally accompanies my period. Sigh.
  • I need to go take my boys to have their pictures professionally done. They have never been. When they were little, I didn't want to expose them to the germs. Last year, I was going to try to have them done, but when we got there Sh.awn lost his shit, so it didn't happen. Now? I don't really have any reason to not take them. It makes me feel a little weird to not have them--like I am a bad mother or something because I haven't spent outrageous amounts of money at Kinder Photo or Sears.
  • But taking the boys to Sears would probably just annoy me. I might want to correct the photographer or take the camera control from her to do them myself. Maybe a place like Kinder Photo would be a better idea.
  • Why do the Olympics start at 8 and run to past midnight? It would be so easy to start at 7 and end at a decent time. As usual, I am watching the Olympics while I type this. Thank goodness I am good at multitasking or NOTHING would get done!
  • The luge doesn't seem like a very fun sport. Is it me, or do they seem to tip over a lot? Sliding down an icy track on my head just isn't my idea of a good time.

All right. That is enough for now. I could write these thoughts forever at this rate.

My Sock It To Me post is coming tomorrow...

  1. Don't feel bad about lack of professional photos. I did the whole professional pics thing with my first and quickly decided it wasn't worth it. Since then I have taken my kids pics myself.

  2. You are so NOT a bad mother for not having your kids photographed at Sears before now.

  3. ME TOO degrees. I went to school with a kid who's brother was the stunt double in footloose (did all of the dancing and gymnastics) for Kevin Bacon's character.
I wish I 1 degree from Kyra. Like her best friend. She's COOL !

Now go get those professional pictures taken. Please pay to have someone come to your house or meet you at the park. The studio pictures just won't capture the true essence of those awesome dudes.

  4. I keep waiting to unintentionally find someone in the blogosphere that I know in real life, so far, so good though.

Tot is almost four and we've never gone to have pictures professionally taken. How about that for the bad Mommy award?

  5. My husband has PMS this week too! How funny!

He is driving me UP THE WALL and he isn't even doing anything wrong. Everything he does is just irritating the crap out of me.

His PMS will end tomorrow when I get my period.

    Funny how that works.

Glad I'm not the only one.

  6. Totally cool about the Kevin Bacon thing. I'm easily amused.

I don't know anything about Kinder photos, but maybe find someone in your town who does them. I'm a freak when it comes to photos - 100's a month, and then they get individual yearly pictures and we got our family picture taken which will last a few years before we get another one. Or, throw up a white sheet somewhere in your house and try doing them yourself.

I really need to write my SITM post, too.
