I had an ultrasound on the 8th that showed no growth. Results were faxed to my OB that afternoon.
I miscarried on the 11th.
I had an OB appointment on the 13th, during which we discussed my fabulous Mother's Day weekend full of bleeding and cramping.
Blood work #2 confirmed declining beta.
We were all clear that there was no hope here; yet someone still felt the need to get an authorization for a c-section anyway.
Worse yet, someone felt the need to get an authorization for a tubal ligation while they were at it.
Not only is this a dagger to the heart, but I am beyond angry about the tubal ligation. I never suggested that I wanted to tie my tubes. It was never mentioned because hello! I was busy fucking miscarrying a much wanted miracle pregnancy.
Tell me this is common practice everywhere, so I don't lose my shit all over again.
Never mind.
It's too late. My shit has been lost.

It seriously falls in the category of what the dash.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for the pepper on your wounds....It just is all so awful.
Does it make you feel better if you look at the dates and realize it can't be you?
ReplyDeleteIt expires in August. Unless they were also planning on not hitting viability ... it was a patient mix-up, that's all. Disturbing on that level, but ... yeah. Not meant for you.
Carhy, it was meant for me. The 3 months is how long authorizations last. In August they'd resubmit for the next 3 months and then again when that expired. They did the same for the other pregnancies. It does surprise me that they did submit auths even when in was clear it wasn't going to end well. And the ligation just floors me.
ReplyDeleteWow- I work in insurance and- that is not typical.
ReplyDeleteOh honey, I am so damned sorry. This was definitely a fuck up and one of massive proportion.

Oh. My. This is just wrong on so many levels and I am so sorry you are being put through the ringer. Hugs my friend.
