Therapy Fatigued

My boys have been in therapy for five years now. Do I think it has been worth our energy and time? In some ways. Maybe? Do I think that the gains made by the boys over those years would have been made otherwise without going to therapy? I'm torn. Physical therapy is beneficial. Occupational therapy is...frustrating. I think I do more targeted work on their fine motor skills than their therapists do. So why do we continue to do it? Sigh. I guess it is because I can't really say if it is or isn't truly helping them.

What I can say is that I have a strong love/hate relationship with it.

I can also say that we've all officially hit the wall.

My spring vacation starts on the 29th. I have cancelled all therapy appointments during the two weeks I'll be off, so we can just be.

I am almost giddy with the excitement about us having this time off. Although I'll admit to feeling a whole lot of guilt about it, too. The boys are looking forward to doing fun things with mommy and staying up late to watch Bubble Guppies. (It's the little things that make them happy. lol) The excitement is enough to tell me that this is the right move and will be good for us.

Hi from another mom of twins (also attempting a third at the moment)! I found your blog through ICLW and just read through your TTC History. Wow, you've been through a lot. Your boys are beautiful, though. Well, handsome...but hopefully you know what I mean :) I hope you enjoy your break from therapy. I'm not an expert, but I think sometimes breaks can be very beneficial!

Hi from ICLW. We all need time off even from therapy. I get tired of physical therapy too.

Everyone needs a break sometimes. Don't feel guilt for just wanting to spend extra quality time with your boys during your 2 week break! Have fun and enjoy your time off :)

Appointments are killer for schedules and peace of mind. I'm glad that you did this for you and your family. Those two weeks will be so rejuvenating! And who's to say they won't be just as helpful as carting everyone around all over town 5 times a week?

I know what you mean about getting burned out. I kind of feel the same way about our O/T sessions, too, actually. I feel like I see the results from P/T, speech, and ABA but not so much from O/T and S.I. But we continue because you can't say for sure ...

All we do is have therapy it feels like. Good for you for taking a break to just be with them and enjoy your time together. At the end of the day that is of just as much importance! Hope you have a blast!
