Friday Night Leftovers
I woke up yesterday to the boys arguing, in what could only be described as a whisper yell, about when to tell me "Happy Birthday." One insisted it was supposed to be a surprise. (Which is funny as they had been doing a countdown with me every night since Jack's birthday, so they knew I knew about it.) The other insisted that no, he was supposed to tell me right this moment. It was pretty funny.
Usually I am on spring break for my birthday. This year was the first time since I started working in this district that I had to actually be at work on my birthday. My coworkers took me to lunch and bought me a cookie. It was very nice!
At home, the boys sang to me and helped me blow out an imaginary candle. (We didn't have any on hand. It didn't matter, though. Imaginary was good enough for everyone. lol)
I decided today I was going to gift myself a day off from work. It has been wonderful!

Monday was my blogoversary. I had a post ready to celebrate the day, but in the end I just didn't feel like celebrating anything and didn't post it.
I am still trying to figure out how to process what happened in Boston. I keep finding myself back at anger as my overwhelming feeling. It makes me angry to know that there are people who will deliberately hurt others for their own cause. It isn't a pleasant feeling to have.

I found out yesterday that one of my former students, one who brought me flowers several years after I had him to thank me for everything, passed away from leukemia on Wednesday. He was just 20 years old--a young man who had such promise! So bright and talented and sweet...
I'm so sad.

I finished Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn. It was a fast read, managing to keep me reading, but I do have to say I'd figured some of it out long before everything is revealed. (I don't want to give away too many details.) I was also somewhat disappointed at how it ended.
That being said, I did recommend it to a few people, and I bought another book by the author. Ahem.

I love bow your boys were arguing about the best way to wish you happy birthday. That is just too sweet! Happy Blogoversary, although I'm sorry the day was shared with such sadness. I'm also sorry about your for we student. Loss is hard, no matter what corner it hits us from. I think I'm going to have to find that book. I've heard from a lot of people who have read it. I actually have a stack of books to read, but since I started blogging I haven't had time to pick up a real book!! Or I haven't made the time. It seems impossible when I spend so much time trying to catch up on everyone's blogs!
Hi from ICLW!
Happy Blogoversary :) I never seem to notice when mine comes up.
I'm so sorry to hear about your former student. He sounds like he was a good person.
