The Gang Was All There

Well the cookout was quite an event! Like I said, it started as a nice quiet event with just Dh's immediate family (for a total of 7 adults and one child). In a blink of an eye, there were 28 people there. They were coming out of the woodwork! Fortunately, two rather large groups were unable to come because of the short notice.

The day went well, except for when my MIL cornered me. I haven't seen her at all since we announced that we are pregnant. That is pretty sad when you consider that she lives about 3 miles away from us. She is an interesting person and can be a handful at times, so I am happy that I don't get the pleasure of her company that often. Anyway, MIL cornered me just as everyone else was leaving. She tells me that her talk with my husband several months back must have made a difference. She told him that we needed to not be "so angry" and (my favorite) "relax" and it would happen. She just knew that was what did it for us; we finally relaxed and got along. WTF? Of course, I should take this with a grain of salt. She was also the one who told Dh that she "knew we could do it" when he told her we are pregnant. She didn't even say congratulations.

Anyway, I tried to point out that the blood thinners probably had a lot to do with our success, but it was pointless. (She has no idea that we did ivf.) It just irritates me to have her go around thinking that all was okay because we relaxed. Sigh.

Family can be fun sometimes.

On a brighter note, Dh and I have planned an anniversary trip to Vegas this weekend. I am pretty excited. Our anniversary is on the 2nd, but we won't go until Saturday afternoon. We'll come home on Tuesday. It will be nice to get away for a little "together" time before the babies come. Plus, maybe we'll come back millionaires and won't need to work! Hmmm......

Opps sorry, I was day dreaming there.

Have a great time in Vegas and try not to worry about dear old MIL. She's going to believe what she wants anyways. glad you're doing well :)

The older generation of women are so set in their ways. I can just imagine a huge portion of my family thinking the same way your MIL does. Just let it roll off your back (as hard as that is!). You have two beautiful little beings in there- who cares how pple think they got there?
