Mad and Sad at the Same Time

Ja.son's helmet is in. Looks like we pick it up on Monday. This one makes me incredibly sad. Not sure if it is because it will be a constant reminder of all of the stuff that went on with the boys or if it is because of some other reason. I've been on the verge of tears since I got the news.

And yes I know I didn't mention that we had the appointment, that he had been casted for it (way old school, but the place is two hours closer to us and my neurosurgeon said that it didn't really matter if I did the new fangled way or this one), had to go back for pictures because the place making the helmet was somewhat freaked by the shunt, or that I had to call three times to make sure that they are making the helmet white instead of this god awful mustard color that was accidentally coded on my receipt.

I am in denial.

The jig is up on Monday though. Think his head will miraculously round itself out between now and then? If I wish real hard?

I'll do it anyway, just in case.

Don't get me started on the fact that he needs it in the first place...(stupid NICU nurses at the evil hospital.)

Sigh.

----

I'm taking the day off from ICLW. I need some me time. I'll catch up tomorrow.

Plus it is Is.aac's birthday today. Not that he is spending it here with me. He's coaching jv football with his cousin tonight.

Double sigh.

What the fuck did those nurses do??!!! Chrissakes.

Stacie, I passed a baby the other day. He was so gorgeous that I smiled at him ... it wasn't until I was up the road much further, when I realised he had been wearing a helmet. His cuteness outshone everything.

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

I can relate a bit. One of my triplets has some medical issues. Everytime he is fitted for and/or receives a new medical device I feel the way you are describing. I just know now that I am going to feel depressed and mad and etc and etc. I wish you the best and if his head doesn't miraculously round out before the helmet gets in, I hope he will only need it for a short time!

Hi Stacie, Sorry to hear about this latest issue. But, my husband's best friend's little girl had to wear a helmet for several months....she had tordecollus (?)...anyways, she did just fine with it. They let her put stickers on it, etc. She was a little younger than Jason when she had to wear it. Try not to worry about it too much. We'll be thinking about you. Karen

Helmets aren't so bad. Every other kid has one now.
I'm sorry though....I know it's just ONE MORE FRIGGIN' thing for you.
I hope you have a GREAT day off.
Tell your husband that he can coach if he takes the boys with him :)

Sounds like you deserve a break! Your boys are adorable. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Maybe you can watch The Princess Bride to help you relax, or at least laugh a little :)

You should be PROUD of that little man! I know its a reminder of such a hard struggle you and the babies went through and it sparks some anger at those evil NICU nurses...but be PROUD that you are now so far past that and how far you have all come and that this is a symbol that will remove or reduce the physical reminders of this stuff. He will do so well- and so will you. His little head will be perfect and round and as kissable as it has ever been!
I am so proud of you fo rhow far you have come- look how amazing these babies are doing in such a short period of time. Look at this helmet as a way to protect Jason from the rough and tumble play that him and Shaun get themselves into!
(((hugs)) always and I don't want to take away from how you feel because you are justified, but I want you to know that I am proud of you for your attitude, your stength, your skill, and your amazing ability to juggle all that life has thrown at you and you hold your head up high 110% of the time whether you think so or not.

I can somewhat relate... we have our appt. on Thurs. for Mr. B to get scanned for his helmet. I have mixed feelings about it. Lots of guilt for sure though. I did join a yahoo group for plagio that has been a huge help!!
