Friday Night Leftovers - Snarky Saturday Edition

(The snarky Saturday edition)

  • I have a baby shower to go to in a bit for the cousin. At her last scan, her cervix was down to .63 and she continues to have contractions regularly. If I am honest, I don't expect her to make it much longer before she delivers. I feel bad for her. She is a wreck.
  • I am having mixed feelings about going to the baby shower. I mean, dang, it should be okay for me to go at this point. I am pregnant, too, for goodness sake. That doesn't mean that my natural inclination isn't to run from it. I remember all too well how much it hurt while we were trying...
  • Need to go to BRU to get her a gift before I go. I haven't been there AT ALL while pregnant with Baby Lo. I am nervous about that, too.
  • Started cleaning out the boys' play room to make it the new baby's room. That is something, right?
  • All this iron I am taking is kicking my rear end. I am either plugged, the other extreme, or puking. I can't seem to find a middle ground. There is no way I can do the 3-4 pills the OB wants me to take. I am lucky if I can get in 2 and keep them there. Ugh. I hope that is enough.
  • Sh.awn has become incredibly clingy. It is driving me crazy. Part of it is that he hasn't felt well. It feels like there is more to it than that, though. I don't know what is up with him.
  • All he wants to do is watch Yo Gabba Gabba while he lies on me. All I want to do is stab out my eyes. The creators of that show are totally on PCP or something. Shudder.
  • Ja.son has a black spot on his abdomen. The more I looked at it, the more I could swear that it looked like a stitch trying to break through the skin. I asked his pedi about it in December, and at first she dismissed that idea. Because, you know, he hasn't had surgery in that spot since he was 4 weeks old! Oh, and the stitches were dissolvable. But once she really looked at it, she agreed that it had to be an old stitch. It is finally trying to break through the skin...I can't wait to pull it out. Ugh. It is like a little dagger reminding me of that time when I see it.
  • 4 day weekend! Wooooowhoooo! My mom is going to take the boys on Monday. Plus, Is.aac is taking Monday off and we are having a date day! Finally! The possibilities are endless. :-) That means we'll likely go out to eat and watch a movie. We are wild like that.
  • My shower is leaking. I have jimmied up some interesting contraptions to stop it from driving me bat shit crazy all night long while it drips. Of course, now that means I have to get all Macgyver-ish when take a shower--we're talking with the use of screw drivers and washcloths to block the hot water shooting out at me (don't ask). You'd think that I'd get off my butt and just change the faucet stem and fix it. I can't get motivated to do that yet. Sigh. (That is the epitome of lazy right? When you are willing to do all kinds of funky junk to avoid going to the store and buying the right tools for the job?)

Head on over to Sippy Cups and see what everyone else is sharing for their Leftovers...

enjoyed your post. and wanted to say how incredibly validating it was when i read that you -- even while pregnant -- have a bit of ishy feelings when it comes to going to a baby shower. I was to attend one 2 wks ago, but when it came down to the day, I ended up playing hooky. "C'mon! I thought to myself, you have 3 kids with no plans for anymore -- why is this such a big damn painful deal? I mean geez! Get over it!"

But apparently, I can't get over it. Even after all this time.

And I don't dare write about it on my blog b/c Miss Prego Fertile will read it...

woh, bet you didn't know your post was going to release my valve.
but really, thx for sharing...

Yo Gabba Gabba is wrong on so many levels. Just wrong.

I hope your shower went well. I do know that feeling of dread because of the feelings it brings up (even though I have 2 of my own).

LOL, the shower, sounds just like me until I finally give up and don't go to the store but instead ask McDiver Dude to fix it :)

Wow a stitch that old?! That's crazy!

I refuse to let that horrid show play on our tv. REFUSE!

Since you have the whole day tomorrow to go out, why not go stock up some more baby stuff together??

you're so funny - i love your posts - the macgyver-ish shower thing is sticking in my head!!
sorry about jason's stitch - that's odd that it's still there - and i think you really did miss your calling (although i am sure you are an excellent teacher --) i think you'd be a fabulous doctor.

now - on to this person you're growing in your belly - i think it would be good to get him some clothes - did you save any of the boys things? i mean when they are real small all you need is diapers a few t-shirts or gowns and blankets - right? if you can macgyver the leaky shower - i have every confidence in you that even if he came before you were "ready" - you'd be able to whip something up!

about the shower -- -- it's ok to feel like you do - it happens to a lot of us. . . . . . . is it safe to assume you will not be having a shower for baby LO? at work? your close friend or family?
for us bloggers who want to send ya a little something????

perhaps you could register for a few small things for those of us who are far away and want to click a gift thru the internet and onto your doorstep - BRU is a great place for that . . . . just sayin'

wow momma - you're heading into 34 weeks . . . . great work!

Ok that whole stitch thing. I would have to dig and dig at it until it came out !!! AAAAAH.
Watch. it won't be a stitch but some piece of a tool or surgical thing that was left in there.
Take pictures.

Yo gabba gabba is a trip. I have never understood it myself but that was the first words Ryan said.

That stitch would DRIVE ME CRAZY until I got it out!!!

You sound so funny, just about right in the motivation dept. Good growing lady!

Yo Gabba Gabba stinks the big one. Thankfully my little man DOES NOT LIKE IT!!

Stopping by for ICLW...

Yo Gabba Gabba totally freaks me out! I'm glad mine are too young to know about it (they are eight months), and I selfishly hope they never find out. Kids seem fascinated by it; my niece loves it. I don't get it!

*shudder* Your poor little guy with the stitch! How awful!! Hope it breaks through soon so you can get rid of it!

Can we see pictures of the Macgyver rig in your shower? Please, pretty please!

Yo Gabba Gabba is truly bizarre.

Could Shawn be sensing the whole baby is coming/life as I know it is changing?
