What About the Other 90 Percent?

I have decided I need to stop complaining. We all have it hard. Sure, some of us have it harder than others, but it depresses me to read this stuff; I can only imagine what you must think. I must find other things to talk about instead of doom and gloom--for my own sanity!

Here's something:

It's hard to get upset at your child throwing food on the ground when he looks at you, smiles, and tells you, "All done!" complete with the sign. Out of nowhere. All you can do in that situation is tell him what a great kiddo he is, smother him with kisses, and laugh. :-) (Sh.awn did that this afternoon.)

or

I love listening to Ja.son talk in three and four word sentences on a regular basis. The number of words he knows is mind blowing. And he talks all. the. time. :-)

and

We got a new batch of books to look at today, including some on bugs and butterflies. We had the best time looking at pictures and talking about all kinds of new things. Sh.awn spent nearly ten minutes kissing over and over again this picture book of babies smiling. He was especially fond of this sweet little toothy blond. Too cute.

plus

The county fair is in town and I just can't wait to take the boys to go see everything. We are planning on going this weekend.

---

I must remember it isn't all bad. The bad is probably only at ten percent of our lives at the worst of times, and even less when things are going well. (I still haven't figured out why the crap seems to come in humungous dung heaps, looking more like elephant piles, rather than be spread out like you find on a horse trail. We're just lucky like that I guess.) Sometimes, though, it is so hard to see all of the ninety plus percent that is going RIGHT when you don't force yourself.

I hereby declare myself forced.

Leave me a comment and gimme something good in your life to celebrate, too!

The other 90% sounds wonderful. S kissing the babies in the book is too cute!

I'm feeling a bit glass-is-half-empty today, but I'll give it a shot. I have the job/life flexibility to make this bedrest thing manageable. Plus, a work-at-home husband to attend to my needs and visit me occasionally. Plus, the persistence to do anything to keep these babies safe as long as possible.

My twin boys (18 months) are also a constant joy in my life.

I can't wait until they start talking too. Still just mostly babbling.

And they "kiss" things too.

It just makes your heart swell every day.

So much to be happy about.

90% isn't all that bad. If I'd have a 90% chance of winning the lottery, I'd play! So would everyone else, I'm afraid... Bye bye 90%

I'm celebrating the cheeky looking-over-her-schoulder-at-me-grin our daugther gives me whenever she does something she KNOWS she's not allowed to do. It's a pain in the butt that she keeps doing all those things, but wow she looks cute while doing it!

Also celebrating the innocent "Who, me?"-look my son gives me, whenever his twin sister starts crying because he's taken away the toy she was playing with and is hitting her over the head with it. I SEE you doing it, little man. You can't fool me! But man, you too look soooo cute right now...

It's our 9th anniversary today. That is something to celebrate!

(p.s. I don't mind when you just HAVE to vent about those other 10%... that's life.)

I have a wonderful husband, 3 healthy boys and my hubby has a job that's safe from the economy.

I Desperately wish my husband's work schedule was better and that there was a 4th little one around or on the way but I definitely have it good.

Huge, huge congrats to Jason and Shawn for the huge leaps in language mastery that they are making.

Here's something good - the fact that I found your blog. Wait. Does that count?

How about the fact that Eliot asked for more green beans today? Or that Owen FINALLY said "ball." A double celebration day!

I wish you super hero strength during this difficult time, Stacie. Actually, you need more than super hero strength. I wish you the strength of Jason and Shawn. :)

You are right, it is hard to see the 90% when it all comes dumping on you at once.

Scared to say it, but I *think* A is potty trained.

Your boys are amazing! I love how much they enjoy books - they get that from you and a love of books and reading will take them far in life.

My husband took the kids camping this week. I have had three days to myself - I even took a sick day today and did a little shopping. The house is so tidy! It has been heaven. They (and several piles of laundry) will be back when I get home from work tomorrow, and boy will I be glad to see them!

Wow--three to four word sentences! We have heard "my daddy" and "my mommy" and "stinky diaper" but that's about it. The kids understand a ton of words though! And I love when our boys kiss picture books as well. That is so sweet! Hmmm...good things to celebrate. Receiving hugs from our boys would have to be high up on the list! The fact that my hips and back don't hurt so badly from SPD (Syphysis Pubis Dysfunction) in this current pregnancy due to the boys is a big plus too, as is the fact that I have slept soundly for the past few days. In short, I feel pretty great and ready to teach a seminar this fall. As always, outside of loving family members, the biggest things to celebrate are friendships--like yours!

Something good in my life to celebrate...

coming up on 7 years of marriage.

Although I will spend yet again, another anniversary alone because of the world not being able to just all get along.

Stupid deployments.

nice post...

I was thinking as I just typed a who half hours worth of my time about my hair, as if anyone cares. but it made me happy.

A lot of what I've written recently is doom and gloom. So I can totally relate to you. Even though our doom and gloom maybe different, it's still that 10% of our lives. It helps to get it out. I consider my blog a little release. Kinda like an online diary. Not everyone who reads it cares, but there are those little few that stick by. I look forward to those responses.

So happy thought...seven inches of hair GONE.
