We Are That Family

When you look at my family, what do you see?

No, really. What do you see?

Do you see a man and woman with two adorable little boys?

Or do you see a mischievous grin on the face of a child who is up to no good?

Maybe you see the dimples and sparkling eyes of one of the sweetest souls on earth?

Or instead do you focus on other things?

A clinched fist?

A little boy with AFO's?

A mother who carries her boys into the house every day because they can't yet walk?

I learned today that my family is that family.

The family that people feel lucky they don't have.

The family that reminds them of how truly lucky they really are because their children are healthy.

And THAT PISSES ME OFF.

We are so much more than brain bleeds and hydrocephalus.

Of CP.

We are so much more than our limits.

We are a family who has more strength in our little fingers than most -- yes most -- people have in their entire fucking bodies.

We are a family who knows the importance of the little things in life and treasures them oh so very much.

Don't look at us and feel lucky you are not us.

Don't compare your life to ours.

Because damn it, you are missing out.

I have two of the most spectacular little boys in the entire fucking world.

Do you hear me?

Do you HEAR me?

Don't feel lucky that you are not me.

I feel lucky that I am not you.

I can't even imagine anyone feeling "lucky" not being a part of your incredible family! A family that is so obviously strong, faithful and dedicated to each other!! Sorry you obviously got on the wrong end of someone else's insecurities! In my opinion you are "that" family...the family that everyone is a little jealous of. That has fun together, that supports each other, and has a rockin mome!!

You are a fabulous family and you definitely have two spectacular little boys. I think you are a family to be celebrates because you are strong, you do NOT let anything stop you, and despite all the potential problems (or maybe because of them), you have two boys that are smart and beautiful and thriving.

There you go !!!!
Scream it out girl. Yell it from the roof. Or better yet, get a shirt printed so that you don't have to waste your breath.
I have always felt your strength. I sure did feel your love in this post.
Thanks.

I found out that I'm the worst case scenario of a lot of my friends. It's pretty awful to find that out. Like, um, wow.

For what it's worth, your kids rule. I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to be you.

I'm so sorry that someone made you feel that way. You have an amazingly wonderful and beautiful family.

I have a friend who has a severely retarded brother. He is basically a 9 month old, but now in a 40 year olds body. She constantly gets pity, looks of pity, and unfortunately, look of disgusts. She continually feels like her brother is a blessing in her life, and that all those people who don't see that are missing out. This post reminded me of her.

All I every think when I see pics of your boys are two little impish men that I would like to squeeze!

I'm sorry that not everyone sees what you and I and so many others see, which is that you have 2 incredible boys. Their loss.

ok so I haven't been around lately and drowning in 'moving land' but I have to pop in and say that this post is the BEST and most AWESOMW POST EVER STACIE!!!!! Those words sting like punches in every face of every person who has ever thought bad about you or your family. You make me so proud to hear YOU so proud :) Your boys are perfect in every way. There are challenges but you see uniqueness and beauty in each challenge and you know that only a strong woman can take on these challenges. And you are one. I can't even deal- I just want to print this out and make flags out of it and freaking fly them everywhere I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!! And I am so pissed at whoever sparked this though but we won't go there.....
xoxoxoxxox to your perfect baby boys :)

you have an amazing family - i hope it will expand in the coming months - because you deserve it.

and i don't think of you as THAT family. i actually admire so much of what you do - how you overcome things - and face adversity square in the eye. and your boys clearly got that gene from you - cuz they do some pretty amazing things too!

Ummm, what the fucking fuck?

You are so so right - you DO have more strength in your pinkie than most people. I think of your family and I think two ADORABLE boys who give their parents joy, rock out in the car seat, and have so much 'tude.

MAN.

Some people are idiots. And it's easy to say "don't worry about what people say/think" .... if you hear something on a bad day it can hurt so bad.

Love you mate. And I cannot for the LIFE of me get that vimeo to work - I think you did a cheer on it? Could you send me a link to it or something? I'm hanging to see the cool sexy StayLow in ACKSHUN.

XOXOXOXOX

I teach 'Perception' to my students in a particular subject, and boy oh boy, is that true!!!

People assume things, make unqualified judgments and even vicarious play-outs. This is your life, and your family, and it is going to be you in it. What others perceive can be soooooo skewed.

Pass a donut to everybody who treats you this way. You could be giving them diabetes.

OK, I sent in the comment and thought last line could be considered not-funny. You don't have to pass the donut. :-)

Wiseguy, I did get that was a joke, silly. I added in my head that I could make them all jealous that I can eat all the donuts I want without an ounce of gain while they can't! That's got to be worth something, right? :-)
