I am having so much fun being a mommy! So far, it is all I had hoped for and so much more! The part I love best, though, is being able to hold and snuggle my babies until my arms ache. Anytime I want. Heaven could be no better than this as far as I am concerned.

We had eye exams today. All in all, it was not too terrible of an experience. Shawn refused to open his eyes for the exam, so the doctor had to pull out his midevil contraption called an eyelid speculum. My goodness that thing was scary. Shawn did his best to close his eyes with the speculum on, too! Jason was his usual easy-going self, and hardly cried. Shawn cried enough for both of them--not that I can blame him. Anyway, a full description of the actual procedure they follow to check the babies' eyes is at the end of this post.

Tomorrow is our pediatrician appointment. Shawn already had one appointment with a pediatrician, but I had to change doctors due to an insurance snaffu. (they had us listed with a doctor with the same last name that was three hours away) Hopefully it will go well with the new doctor. I am anxious to talk to her about Shawn's dislike of feedings. It can be torturous for all involved. Plus, I need a buttload of referrals for all of the follow up appointments the boys need.

After the eye exams, I came home and played photographer. This was the first time the boys were photographed together since December. (another Heaven moment for me)

Can you tell that this was just before eating time? Shawn is in the blue and Jason is in the green.

This one (above) is my favorite for the day.

Well, maybe this one (above) is my favorite.

I love this last one of Jason. I think his expression is just too sweet.

Not too bad for my first attempt. Shawn's eyes were a little swollen from the eye exam, too.

Here is the description of the eye exams (and linked to the site from which I lifted this info):

What is with the no spell check already?!?!?!!! Geez!

Hi Stacie! Your boys are the sweetest! I am ttc and have been for 7 years so I go to the pregnancy-info.net site a lot and that is where I found you. I have followed you since before you got pg with your boys and I have to say that your experience makes me not want to ever give up my hope of having a baby. Thank you for pouring your heart out and sharing your roller coaster ride of being a wonderful mom, because you really are. Take care! Cindy Burdine, Indianapolis

How terrible ! Anything with the word speculum just sends me any ways :)
Good luck finding a doctor closer.

SUCH cute pictures. Now that they are home, wire free and next to each other....they really look more like each other than they did before. Definitely brothers.

Your pictures are beautiful. They look so stinkin' cute all cuddled up next to each other.

The eye exam sounds nasty. Glad that's over. Ugh.

And spell check has gone away for everyone and no one knows why. Aargh.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I can't believe Shawn ate Jason's head! LOLLLLL!!! That is so adorable and they are so cute I could squish them to pieces! FINALLY you are able to be a mommy to your 2 babies 24 hours a day. What an experience- I can't even imagine and I am just so happy for you guys!!!
But that eye exam sounds brutal! Ouch with that darm speculum- who knew an instrument like that existed? But glad they did well and it wasn't too crazy of an experience!
So you have to post as time goes on how much alike or different these babies are as their personalities develop and come out!
I just peeked again at the pics and look how cute Jason's lil striped shirt is! I don't know how you manage to even put these babies down for a minute- how could you let them go? :)

I'm so glad you're all home and enjoying life for a change.

You sound like you're doing a great job with them and loving them to pieces!

I thought it was just me with the spell check!

I am so glad that motherhood is all you dreamed of. No one deserves that dream to be fulfilled more than you.
