Well, it looks like we are taking Shawn to the ER tomorrow morning.
Today was the first day in several days that I checked his soft spot. I just decided I was going to go mad if I kept up what I was doing before. Sanity is the key here. I definitely need my sanity. Anyway, I only checked it because his head looked slightly larger.
We called the neurosurgeon who told us to bring him to ER if we felt he is symptomatic. Geez. Thanks for the help, buddy.
While he isn't as bad as he has been in the past, his head has enlarged somewhat and he is starting to spit up his food. The food thing is what really suggests it is time. His soft spot (and the created soft spot from the last surgery) both are firmer more often, too. (strange how those things fluctuate throughout the day)
In my heart of hearts, I knew he would need that second shunt. I so wish he didn't, though.
So, I am extending the drawing for the Pay It Forward contest until after I get back from the hospital with Shawn.
Assuming he will need the second shunt, they will keep him for 24 hours after the surgery. When the surgery might be is the mystery. I don't know if they'll do it on a Saturday. I guess that will depend if he is considered "emergency" or not.
---
This puts a damper on returning to work on Monday...figures. Nothing else has gone as planned, why would work, too?
---
Doesn't make for a very good birthday, either.

Praying that all goes well!
Well, shit. I thought you were almost out of the woods. I was soooo hoping that life wouldn't choose to screw with you guys anymore for a while. It just pisses me off that you are getting a motherload of crap.
I sure hope that they don't find any issues with him, but then again I'm pretty darned sure you know what you are about with this. You've been at it too long not to.
I am really, really sorry. Feel free to email or call me directly if you just need to let off the steam.
I'll be praying for your little Shawn.
Dear Stacy, sorry to hear this. Shawn and all of you will be in our thoughts this weekend. Have you finally reached the point (the second shunt) where this is it, there will be no more surgeries after this? If so, that's at least a positive thing, knowing that it will work like the first one did. Not knowing is such agony. Best wishes to Shawn for a speedy recovery, and we'll be thinking of and praying for you all!--Jody
I hope Shawn is okay. I wish things could just get easy.
Just thinking about Shawn. He is in my thoughts and prayers tonight.
Hope you are doing well sweetie.. I wish you would just get a break from all of this worry. Anyway.. prayers and thoughts sent your way!

Hope everything with Shawn went well. He is going to have a very strong character from all of this. I hope your birthday marks the beginning of a new year; one that is much simpler and filled with unending happiness.
