Friday Night Leftovers - More Cycle Talk (Updated)

  • I am amazed to find out that this is post 810. Whoa. How could I have had that much to say? Jeez, I need to stop talking so much!
  • Got the call from the embryologist that both of the embryos arrested just before they would have been frozen. I am not exactly sure how I feel about that. On the one side, I wasn't expecting to have anything to freeze from the very start because everything was so dismal. Yet, on the other side, I got my hopes all up when she told us they looked very good and had a good chance at making it to freeze. They even had us pay the $650 storage fee for the year. Sigh. Falling on the wrong side of the odds strikes again.
  • I guess the good news is that I get $650 back. Right? Update: Just had a brainstorm in the shower. My first IVF created only 6 eggs. It also had 100% fertilization. We transferred two. One made it to freeze. Somehow this makes me feel better. The cycle stats are so similar. We transferred three this time, so OF COURSE there were none to freeze. Now, we got pg on that cycle, but this was all before I found out about my clotting issues, so maybe this time we've fixed our problem and I can stay pregnant? Sounds good to me anyway. :-)
  • I am not even going there about what that could mean about the terrific three we transferred. I transferred the best...I transferred the best...I transferred the best... You get the idea.
  • The PIO shots are kicking my ass. Literally. I counted it up yesterday only to discover that I have had OVER 198 shots in my ass over the years, not counting HCG shots, P17 shots, steroids, etc. My ass is tired. And sore. And gets all pissy when Is.aac injects the progesterone; so much so, that I now actually feel the nerves scream all the way down the side of my thigh. Not fun.
  • My clinic is doing a trial study (which has had great success) about injecting PIO into the stomach instead of the hip. Guess who isn't qualified for said study with the great success and the much happier asses? Yep. Me.
  • As much as I am trying not to, I have started the dreaded symptom watch. So far I am tired (from progesterone), my boobs hurt enough to have to wear a bra to bed (progesterone, trigger shot residuals, possibly from the vivelle patches, too), and an interesting little...burning pulling strange sensation in where I "think" my uterus is now. Started yesterday. Continues off and on today.
  • Today is 7 days past retrieval. The earliest I got a positive pregnancy test was 9 days past retrieval. Waffling back and forth about when to test (although I know I have to put Karen, (updated to add) Julie, and Janet (how could I have forgotten them?) out of their misery sooner rather than later!)
  • Yes I will test before beta.
  • I have a script for Lovenox. The RE said he usually suggests patients start the shots with a positive beta, but he is leaving it up to us as to whether we'd like to start with a positive hpt (should we hopefully get one!).
  • We're starting with a positive hpt. Damn it, I want a positive hpt.
  • Beta is set for August 2. That is our anniversary.
  • But, I won't be here on August 2. I am leaving for a work conference on the morning of August 1.
  • I can either go for my beta on the 31 or the 1st. I will decide the day when I see whether or not the pee sticks are kind to me.
  • I am kicking myself for this, but should I be pregnant, my due date is April 9. That makes me exactly 3 weeks pregnant today. Sigh.
  • Hypothetically speaking, should we get pregnant, get past the scary heart beat stage, find out it is a little girl (we shall call her Emily for now), and deliver at TERM, we'd have another aries on our hands. Just like me (my bday is April 18). Is.aac wouldn't know what hit him. Heh. He has no defenses against an aries woman. (his words, not mine.) :-)
  • Tell me I didn't just jinx myself looking those dates up, even if you have to lie.
For more leftovers stop by here.

This sounds great Stacie. You can see a pattern in the numbers. Read them and find all the great messages of pregnancy! Good for you.

Thanks for the PIO in the stomach. I will ask about this one. (Assuming it is progesterone in oil? That sucker hurts.)

Come oooon, BFP!

As for the PIO - are you freezing your butt before the shot and following up with heat after the shot? I've found that always worked best for me. Still, the build-up of soreness sucks no matter what you do after a while. And PIO in the tummy? No way. I can't even imagine it.

I hope there is a line in the next couple days!

Honestly, PIO in the tummy? I mean, my ass seems much more durable than my belly fat... I've got a hard ass though ;) wow, sorry, I take that back.

I'm an Aries too, and, get this, April 18th as well! I thought we had some similarities!

Lots of good good vibes going your way for the hpt in a *few* days. I'm sorry about the freezing news. You ABSOLUTELY transferred the best ones.

Good luck good luck!

Hello there little Emily! Be a good girl, stick around! You've chosen one of the best families in the whole wide world to be born into...

You go ahead, girl, drive your dad crazy! Just wait a while before you start. A long while. Let's say another 8 months or so?

Hug,
Mijke
