Mostly Wordless Wednesday

He can't quite figure out how to do it without trying to drown himself.

Man, I love this kid!

Mostly Wordless Wednesday

Notice anything on that beautiful face?

Come on. Look again.

That's right, you don't! Ja.son isn't wearing his glasses!!

After 5 and a half years, Ja.son's vision is now within normal limits. For now, he no longer needs to wear his glasses!!!

We have a recheck in six months to see how things stand with his vision. Until then, we were told that he gets to be glasses free* unless we noticed his eyes turning. Woo to the double whooo!

Sh.awn's vision has also dramatically improved. Technically his vision is fairly close to normal as well, but his right eye did turn in (then quickly self corrected) when his glasses were off. He's going to keep his glasses for the time being to hopefully allow his eyes to continue to strengthen.

So take that prematurity. We hereby declare vision victory over your miserable behind!

*Poor Ja.son has worn his glasses since his first birthday. He knows nothing else. It has been an interesting day for him to say the least. It took him several hours before he was ready to give me his glasses. It's hard to just drop something that has been such a part of your life for so long. Then, once they were off, he cried a bit as he worried that everyone would laugh at him without his glasses. (How's that for a twist to the usual story?) This being glasses-less thing is going to take some getting used to for all of us, most especially him.

It's odd that this one little change can make him seem so different to me.

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - Makes My Heart Sing

He's been practicing, which is definitely not something he wanted to do before now.

He was always so afraid.

Lately, though, he's changed. He wants to practice.

And when he does, it makes my heart almost explode from my chest in happiness.

My eyes instantly flood with tears.

I bet you can totally understand why when you see for yourself. :)

It makes my heart sing! I'm am so proud of him!!!

One of my top ten favorite pictures of all my guys...

Just looking at it makes my heart happy. :)

Here's another recent favorite of just my little guys.

Mostly Wordless Wednesday

It fascinates me to see him moving along the world the way he does. I swear sometimes he even seems to defy gravity. He thinks about what he wants to do and then goes...just like that. It's mind boggling.

More than that, it's pretty damn amazing to me.

I don't think watching him explore is ever going to get old.

He loved playing with the lemon tree.
He can even reach the low ones!

Three more sleeps until the big TWO for our big one.

Mostly Wordless Wednesday

They were planning something, I just know it. :)

Actually, they had a dandelion and were trying to decide who got to blow the seeds everywhere. In the end, they blew it together. How sweet is that?

Mostly Wordless Wednesday

I gave the boys haircuts today.

I hate doing haircuts. It's one of those necessary evils that I do because I just can't justify taking the boys out, paying for them to melt down while getting a cut that isn't any better than I can do.

For once, there were no tears. I tell you it was glorious. Okay, fine. Glorious probably isn't the best word to describe the feeling, but it was pretty nice to not have to hear them screaming the entire time I work on them.

You see, it's the little things that make me happy. No screaming during the haircuts definitely makes me happy! :-)

Aren't they cute? :-)

I just realized that Sh.awn's hair parts on the right; Jack's hair parts on the left; and Ja.son's hair doesn't have a part. Hm. How funny is that? You'd think I'd pick a side and stick with it. lol.

Mostly Wordless Wednesday

We had a fabulous time at Disney!

A picture of a picture because I am lazy like that.
You get the idea, though. :-)

I'll write about our trip on the boys' blog some day soon, but I have to say that I was emotional once we were there, something I was not expecting at all. It started when we were watching a parade down Main Street when I had to bite my lip to stop myself from bawling (and I do not cry if I can help it), and continued throughout the trip.

I just felt so lucky to have the chance to take them to Disneyland.

There was a time not too long ago when I never imagined I'd be able to have those kind of moments with these guys.

I am blessed!

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - Parenting Fail

I generally consider myself to be pretty on top of things having to do with the boys. Imagine my surprise, after looking in his mouth twice a day, every day, Is.aac called me over this evening to look in Ja.son's mouth. I saw this:

I swear I just about fell over.

(Then I might have had an internal freak out over what those big teeth behind those baby teeth will likely mean. After which I may have just about snapped his head off while I desperately tried to see if there is anything I missed on the top. Thankfully, there isn't. Sigh. I was somewhat relieved to find that one of the teeth is slightly loose until I realized that the other isn't budging at all. Damn.)

How the hell do two teeth grow in that much before I even know it...when I look in his mouth two f-ing times a day?!!?

I don't know.

I guess I get to call a dentist tomorrow. Whee!

Parenting fail right there. Lol.

In my defense, the boy won't even be 5 for three plus more months, so I wasn't even considering there would be teeth issues at this point. That's something, right?

Mostly Wordless Wednesday

We had a fun painting rocks today. The boys LOVED it.

It started out calm enough. This was the quiet before the storm, I suppose.

Ja.son being all delicate in his painting.

Sh.awn was concentrating so hard on his rock.
Jack was there, too. He didn't paint rocks, though. He just hung around and was all cute.

LOVE this picture!

It wasn't long before they ditched the brushes and took a more hands on approach.
Who needs paint brushes?

Not I!

In the end, he was covered in paint. (Even his tongue)

Jack managed to stay busy while the big boys painted.

Trying to climb up the slide.

Cleaning up before going in for a bath.
Splash!

It was such a wonderful day!

Wordless Wednesday - 14 Months

14 months old today. I say it every month, but here I go again. I just can't believe how fast this time is going. I want to slow it down and savor every second.

Notice the sock size. The boy is wearing 2T-3T socks.
And they are starting to get tight!

Man, I love this little guy!

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - In the Middle of the Sick

So it seems you can only dodge the Sick for so long when you are surrounded by little people who for some reason become greatly fascinated by your mouth, nose, and eyes when their hands are covered in germs. (I swear if one more kid pokes me in the eye with a slimy hand, I am going to lose it.)

Sigh.

Anywho, I am feeling a bit under the weather (Please let this be fast moving crud.) and not really into the whole creative blogging thing tonight. I've got a pillow calling my name. Thank goodness for Mostly Wordless Wednesday.

I leave you with a picture taken about 12 hours before our sweet children were overtaken by the cranky, snotty, "I want you to hold me! NO!!! Get away from me NOW!" boys they are now.

So serene...I miss those times. Ahem.

If Sh.awn's any indication, it looks like whatever this is gives you one good night of feeling really crappy followed by a few days of only feeling mildly crappy. I find that knowledge comforting somehow. Maybe this will be a fast moving crud after all.

A girl can hope.

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - Therapy Pics

This first picture is of Sh.awn using his walker during physical therapy. The highlight of his therapy sessions is to go into the stinky bathroom. The more we play up how he shouldn't want to go into the STINKY bathroom, the better it is for him. lol. I don't know why he's chosen a room with a toilet as his motivation, but we'll take whatever works for him. He is such a BOY. :)

He is hysterically laughing here...

The women with Sh.awn in his picture are his interim therapist (his regular on maternity leave) and an intern who is sitting next to him. In this picture, the intern looks a bit like me. Weird.

Here is Ja.son during his OT session today. He's making ice pops. He saw the freezer forms while he was riding around the therapy room on his bike and begged to make them during OT. His therapist was kind enough to oblige. (They made a deal that he could make the pops if he'd let her put some kinesio tape on him. As an aside, I am getting pretty damn skilled at slapping that tape on my boy in under 10 seconds. His therapist not so much. Ahem. My resume continues to grow...) It did take a bit of talking to get him to accept that he couldn't eat the ice pops today, though.

Concentrating on his pops...

The boys continue to work very hard in therapy. We are so proud of them!

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - More Cruising

Makes my heart happy to see this...

He was TOTALLY rocking his ride today. :-)

Mostly Wordless Wednesday

Doesn't this make it look like he has way too much on his mind? The hand at the temple...the furrowed brow...it all crack me up!

Any guesses as to what he's thinking? Bonus points if you can come up with a funny caption!
