Perfect Moment Monday

I just downloaded our zoo pictures from the camera this afternoon. I totally love this shot of the big boys...

Sh.awn was sitting at this picnic table all by himself. Ja.son saw him there alone and had to go over to sit there, too. They started out talking to each other across the table, but after a few minutes, they were sitting next to each other on the same side.

And I melted on the spot.

I always have had a nagging worry that my boys would be missing out on the twin bond. They were born so early and separated so much when they were young. Plus their ability levels (both cognitive and physical because Sh.awn has always been about 6-9 months behind his brother developmentally) have also been so different all along. I feared the damage that might have done to the chance of them fostering that special closeness. To be honest, the fear has really stung because it's hard not to view it as yet another way that they were cheated because of thier circumstance of prematurity.

Scenes like this, however, show that they really are beginning to enjoy being around each other now. It is so heartwarming to see their relationship develop into something more than just brothers. And while I know that they may still not be as close as some twins may be, there is something more there between them than what I'd expect from many siblings.

It makes me so, so happy to see.

Perfect Moment Monday - Singing Time

I Capture
Perfect Moments.

Today, my perfect moment happened this afternoon, a few minutes after I put the boys in bed for their naps.

Ja.son was not interested in the idea of a nap one bit, so he began to sing "Farmer in the Dell" at the top of his voice. It wasn't long before Sh.awn joined in as well. They moved on to a rendition of "Old MacDonald" before Ja.son finally ended with "Oh My Darlin' Clementine." They laughed and played and had a great time. I sat in their doorway and just watched them be brothers.

It was awesome and almost made up for the fact that Ja.son never did actually sleep! :-)

Perfect Moment Monday - Hanging Out with the Boys

I Capture
Perfect Moments.

What things looked like around our house tonight.

Sh.awny waits...

Boom! Ja.son is thrown over his daddy's body onto the pillow!

Laughter for everyone...

Fun times! :-)

Someday, before I know it, these moments will be long gone. I am definitely trying to treasure them while they last.

Perfect Moment Monday - Hello!

I Capture
Perfect Moments.

Sh.awn is in this stage where he makes everything, and I do mean everything, into an imaginary phone so he can say, "Hello." One of his make believe favorites is his toothbrush. He'll always try to answer it several times before he gets down to the business at hand and brushes his teeth.

All along we've told him that it is not a phone, it's a toothbrush when he starts his routine, so he knows what he's doing. He does it anyway, and it never fails to make me smile. (hm. could this be why he continues?) His response is to wait for a bit before he whispers a quick hello. It is too funny because it is almost like he's talking to someone he's not supposed to be talking to.

We finally caught him in action this weekend...

Did you catch the quick hello when Is.aac started to tell him it wasn't a phone? This kid is a riot.

Perfect Moment Monday - I'll Have What He's Having

I Capture
Perfect Moments.

I couldn't resist. This is my perfect moment of the weekend. I've dubbed it "I'll Have What He's Having," alternately known as "Goldfish!" Enjoy. :-)

Man, I love my boys.

Perfect Moment Monday - It's Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Christmas

I Capture
Perfect Moments.

Imagine my surprise when today my darling duo slept in until...wait for it...10:15 am! Plus, it was only because my husband so rudely woke us up that we got up at that time. I have to tell you that it was pure heaven. Sleep, I have missed you so. Anyway, I figured that this was a good omen--it must mean that today is the day to go see Santa!

One bruised eye (mine) and a bloody lip later (Ja.son's), and I still wasn't deterred. I just figured that they needed a short little nap as a pick me up. You know, because sleep makes everything better. (It sure worked for me today.)

Only Ja.son wouldn't nap. And because Ja.son wouldn't nap, Sh.awn couldn't nap. Sigh.

But, I still wasn't deterred.

And I am so glad I wasn't.

The mall gods parted the sea of cars and let us find a parking space without having to drive around for hours. Seriously, we just pull into a prime slot as we drove into the parking lot. When does that ever happen?

Then, as we entered the dreaded mall, people sort of drifted out of our path and we were able to make a beeline to Santa's village. Not only that, but they must have known we were coming because I swear there wasn't a single person in line in front of us. It was sweet!

As we walked up, we stood there and admired the big man in red. The boys called to him and said hi. Santa waved at them and told them to come on over. The boys were excited about sitting on Santa's lap. We practiced smiling and saying cheese. We were primed and ready...

...until we got there.

Then their little faces looked like this...

Jeez, the excitement and joy was written all over their faces.

Don't worry about Sh.awn. He stopped crying immediately, once we took him off of Santa's lap. Then he resumed his continuous serenade of "Hi!" to Santa as we walked away. Sigh.

I think they had a good time, though, even with the tears, because they talked about Santa all the way home.

:-)

It is amazing to me to see them on Santa's lap this year. They are growing so fast! Here's a little flashback to last year's Santa visit so you can see what I mean...

Perfect Moment Monday - Pumpkin Patch

I Capture
Perfect Moments.

This week's Perfect Moment was our trip to the pumpkin patch. We had a great time!

We started off checking out the sunflowers...

Sh.awn was quite impressed with their beauty.

We moved on to the pumpkins...

Here is Ja.son inspecting one of many possibilities.

He finally decided on this one. He's trying to roll it to the car in this picture! (but he didn't even know when we left without it)

Sh.awn was okay at the patch as long as he was in someone's arms. He did NOT like the hay that was all over the ground.

Here we are looking at a pumpkin. This was the first one he looked at.

From that point on, he had eyes for no other. He had found the most sincere pumpkin in the whole patch!

That made him VERY happy! :-)

Finally, we walked through the corn maze. We hid around the stalks and played peek-a-boo.

Sh.awn gave up trying to scare his brother and focused more on me. :-)

Is.aac and Ja.son popped around the corner with big grins on their faces.

We all had a great time as you can see by Jay's huge smile.

The perfect topper was when we saw this on the way home...

Perfect Moment Monday - Family

I Capture
Perfect Moments.

I needed a day like this. Just me and my family at the park. :-)

Go see more Perfect Monday Moments here!

P.S. The RE finally called tonight. (it would have been nice for the nurse to tell me he was on VACATION!!!) He assured me that what happened this cycle was a fluke and he doesn't expect it to happen again. A small percentage of women will ovulate through the drugs, but it in no way indicates that something is wrong with my body or that success will be compromised in a FET cycle, which is something my crazy head has been thinking. I am feeling better about that at least.

P.S.S. Tomorrow, I'll be out of school for a conference. I am looking forward to the break both mentally and physically. I am also strongly considering taking Friday off as well. Maybe a little down time will make things a little less overwhelming and help me get my head back in the game.

Perfect Moment Monday - Jason and His Woman

I Capture
Perfect Moments.

Thanks to Swim's hilarious reaction, I let the boys watch this video. I've been watching it approximately five hundred times a day since. But, I do have to say that each and every time I see the boys rock out, it manages to bring a smile to my face. :-)

This was Ja.son last night. (Sh.awn and Is.aac were off getting pizza for dinner.)

I have no idea where this boy gets his rhythm (or lack there of). Surely from my husband. Ahem.

Perfect Moment Monday

I Capture
Perfect Moments.

My Perfect Moment...

Sharing my first Mother's Day with my little Sh.awn. Last year he was lying in a hospital bed where my husband helplessly watched, his shunt externalized, fighting off an infection.

But this year?

This year he was in my arms.

And I loved every moment of it. :-)

Perfect Moment Monday

Once again, Mel inspired me to try something new. Click here (where it all began at Weebles Wobblog) for a list of others.

Today, we went to the local zoo. I had never been there before, so it was new to all of us. The boys were their usual rock star selves and were totally awesome. They only cried when a few macaws were rude enough to squawk loudly at them, but even that was short lived! (both the crying and the squawking)

This was my favorite part of the day--here watching the giraffes. I think giraffes will always be my symbol for my little men.

More pictures are on the other blog if you are interested. Just please remember to comment over on this one to help me keep my anonymity with people in real life...
