Friday (OK, Saturday) Night Leftovers

  • Well, we made it through to round 2 of the grant process. Go me. I am not exactly excited about the extra work this is going to create for me, but hopefully this time people will step up and do what they say they are going to do and not leave it all on me.
  • Yeah. Not holding my breath.
  • Work has been hard the past few months, for a number of reasons. None of those reasons will go away in the foreseeable future.
  • Sigh.
  • This last Thursday was the ten year anniversary of Is.aac asking me to marry him. I can't believe that it's been ten years.
  • I really can't believe that we've been together for nearly 23 years this June.
  • Dude. When did he get so old? ;)
  • Sh.awn finally went in the potty! Sure, he was trying to shit in the bathtub so I picked him up and put him on the potty while he SCREAMED the entire time, but let's not lose sight of the fact that he pooed in the potty.
  • I'm calling it a freaking success story.
  • What? I'm desperate. He could very well be the ONE kid who does go to college in diapers just to spite his mother. He's pretty stubborn. And likes to push my buttons.
  • Ahem.
  • He may come by his stubbornness naturally.
  • Speaking of Sh.awn, I am so excited about the huge leaps in vocabulary he has made this month.
  • His receptive language has always been spot on. He could always generate his own speech if he wanted to talk. He did, however, struggle to answer direct questions. I had begun to worry knew there was likely a pretty significant processing disorder to deal with. (Which, when you understand that his bleed affected his language center, some sort of processing issue is not a surprise.)
  • But he has started rhyming everyfreakingthing he says (like Ja.son) and now has full out conversations with me. He answers my questions. (You know, when he wants to. sigh.) In complete thoughts. I am in awe.
  • My concern about processing disorders has been GREATLY reduced. They may find something to be concerned about at some point, but I'm now convinced it will be a slight issue if any there is one at all.
  • Talk about relief.
  • I love, love, LOVE how this new development has translated to Sh.awn's relationship with Ja.son. They are now playing in a way they never had before. Music to my ears! :-)
Stop by Danifred's for more leftovers.

I am so excited to read about the twins doing so well and especially to read about the jumps in Shawn's language skills. Truly awesome news.

Hi,

I'm finding you for the first time through ICLW. I love this post with snippets of your life that you haven't managed to post about yet. It's a really interesting way of getting your readers up to date with everything that's going on that they might have missed.

Best wishes,

Casey
